Meet & Greet

Dear Residents,

It was great to meet everyone who came out to the Sept. 9th meet and greet. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts, frustrations, and hopes for our district. Good leadership starts with listening, and your feedback shows exactly what we need to work on together.

I want to directly address the main issues you brought up: taxes, roads, housing, and how we share information.

High Taxes

Many of you said that taxes are simply too high right now. I hear you. High taxes hurt everyday budgets, and you should see real value for your money. I will push for a close look at our current spending to find ways to cut waste and make sure your tax dollars are used wisely, without adding more stress to our community.

Bad Roads

The state of our roads is a real safety issue that has been ignored for too long. Potholes and broken streets damage your cars and slow everyone down. I am committing to push for a faster repair plan that fixes the worst spots first and gives everyone a clear timeline for when other roads will be redone.

Low-Income Housing

I know there is a lot of worry about affordable housing. Growth shouldn't make life harder for the people who already live here. Any new housing projects need to be planned carefully so they help the people who need it without overcrowding our neighbourhoods or straining local services.

Transparency (Keeping You Informed)

The most important feedback from the meeting was that you want more honesty and openness from leadership. You shouldn't be left in the dark about decisions that affect your neighbourhood. Moving forward, I will work to set up regular community meetings, post easy-to-read updates on big projects, and make sure we ask for your input before final decisions are made, not after.

Thank you again for being honest with me and for caring about our community. This is just the start of our conversation.

You can stay up to date and find more details about my plan at lelandmawforcouncil.ca.

Let's work together,

Leland Maw

District and Town Council Candidate

Is Muskoka Council making a $17M mistake.......

Something to think about………. Let’s talk. Is Muskoka Council making a $17M mistake with our tax dollars? Everyone agrees we need affordable housing. But is spending $17 million on a government-owne
