Empowering community voices for a stronger local future.

🌲 Meet Leland "Lee"

Leland “Lee” is a deeply rooted, 4th-generation Muskokan who has spent his entire life living and working in the community he loves. He comes from a family of six children, where he learned the value of hard work and community responsibility early on as the eldest. In fact, his family roots run so deep that his grandparents’ original log home—the very house his father was born in—has been preserved for many years as "Maw House," a historic piece of our local history inside Muskoka Heritage Place. Today, Lee is a proud family man who treasures spending quality time with his grandchildren and enjoying Muskoka’s beautiful outdoors, whether he is fishing on our lakes or out snowmobiling in the winter.

Leland brings a powerful, hands-on combination of public service, heavy industry leadership, and private business experience to the table. As a young man, he spent 15 years (1985–2000) working within the municipal engineering department at the District of Muskoka, gaining invaluable, firsthand insight into how our local municipal systems and infrastructure operate.

Following his time in public service, Leland transitioned into the private sector, building a lifelong career in the construction industry that continues today. Over the years, he successfully owned and operated his own independent Muskoka home inspection business for 9 years and excelled as a Facilities Manager and Project Manager. Notably, he served as the Site Representative for the construction of the medium-security prison in Gravenhurst, overseeing critical components to ensure quality, structural specifications, and timelines were met. Through these diverse roles, he developed a masterful background in managing large-scale budgets, solving complex practical problems, and mastering structural and housing safety standards.

Leland is running for council because he believes our everyday neighbourhood and taxpayer needs deserve a practical, experienced voice. With his deep family roots, his extensive infrastructure background, and his proven business leadership, Leland has the unique, common-sense skillset needed to help protect housing affordability and ensure town hall remains open, transparent, and fully accountable to the residents it serves.

Campaign Priorities
Leland is committed to bringing common-sense solutions to town hall
01
Protecting Housing Affordability
Â
"Our community thrives when the people who build it, work in it, and care for it can actually afford to live here. Right now, skyrocketing costs are driving out our local workforce, young families, and seniors on fixed incomes. No one should be priced out of the town they love.
As your councillor, Leland is committed to supporting dignified, attainable, and low-income housing choices. He will fight to ensure that our families, seniors, and workers have access to safe, stable, and affordable places to call home by working collaboratively with local partners and advocating for smart municipal housing solutions."
02
Community Engagement
Local government should be accessible, clear, and easy to understand—not confusing. Leland believes that trust is built when neighbors are genuinely informed and involved. He will fight to ensure that our everyday neighborhood concerns are not lost in the shuffle, but are actively heard, respected, and acted upon by your local government.
03
Infrastructure
"Well-maintained roads, safe sidewalks, and reliable local infrastructure are the foundation of a strong community. Too often, the essential maintenance our neighborhoods rely on gets delayed or overlooked.
Leland is committed to advocating for our fair share of local infrastructure funding. He will focus on the everyday realities that impact our families—ensuring our streets are safe for kids and seniors, addressing traffic calming and sidewalk safety, and making sure neighborhood maintenance requests are handled efficiently and effectively."
